Event Details

There is more than coal in Coal City. The Coal City Public Library District houses the former Will/Grundy Counties Genealogy Collection (WGGS). This collection contains many valuable resources to aid in your local genealogy research. The majority of the collection covers both Will and Grundy Counties, but also includes materials from surrounding areas. We will be exploring those materials, online databases, and a splash of local history to help explain why our ancestors came to live and work in the local area. (Hint-it probably had something to do with coal!) ​
