Are you an aspiring novelist, literary aficionado, or just curious about books? Don't miss this inside look at the world of novel writing! Our panel gathers local authors of different genres to talk about their books, writing process, inspiration and more. Authors will be available for book purchases and signing after the panel.

Featuring:

Ron Bay Jr. has a passion for writing and follows the advice of his favorite author, Mark Twain, to “write what you know.” Ron’s favorite subject matter involves teenagers and the joys and struggles associated with that time of life. Ron plans on writing until his eyes can no longer read the images on the screen.

Gina Linko lives in New Lenox, works as a textbook editor, and has three kids and two cats. She has a master’s degree from DePaul University in creative writing, as well as several published novels for kids. Her most recent book, Nothing Else Is Love, is her adult debut. Gina likes to stay up really late at night, is addicted to Scrabble, and is an eternal optimist, i.e. roots for the Cubs.

Hollie Smurthwaite is the author of The Color of Trauma, a romantic suspense novel and winner of the 2020 Soon to be Famous Illinois Author Project contest for adult fiction. She is active in the writing community as a member of Off-Campus Writers' Workshop, Sisters in Crime, Alliance of Independent Authors, Chicago Writers Association, and a co-organizer for Just Write Chicago, a Meetup group.
