Program Description

Event Details

This group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6 pm. Learn about using different online databases, breaking through “brick walls,” obtaining vital records, and documenting and organizing your family research. Come share your family research success stories and continue to increase the “branches” on your family tree!

Monthly Topic: Meghan Moran presents "Case Study:  The Gocke Family from Germany to West Virginia & Beyond"

The process for applying to become credentialed through the Board for Certification of Genealogists includes the development of a Kinship Determination Project (KDP). The project requires documented evidence of individuals through three ancestral generations. This case study will examine the development of a KDP, some strategies used to uncover information about elusive family members, and how to apply similar strategies to solve genealogical problems.
